The Eccleshall Great War Project

Welcome to the Eccleshall Great War Project.

The following 17 names are recognised by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (GWGC) as casualties of the Great War. These same names have been researched and identified as having had a strong connection to Eccleshall Parish. Some have been found on other (non local) war memorials, but some have not.

It is intended to recognise the sacrifice made by those 17 men by adding their names to the war memorial by Armistice Day - 11th November 2018, exactly 100 years to the day that the guns fell silent on the Western Front.

It is planned to complete the work to coincide with the Eccleshall Festival week of 2018 and to include a service of dedication. As was the case for funding the original construction of the war memorial, we have instigated a public subscription to fund the necessary work.

If your feel you can donate, however small that amount may be, then please
